Albany is a vibrant center for both culture and entertainment. The Nelson A. Rockefeller
Empire State Plaza is the centerpiece of the city, which is a governmental center that
includes the New York State Museum and Library and major performing arts and
convention facilities. Albany is also home to the Pepsi Arena, a 15,000-seat venue for
major entertainment and sporting events.

Albany, Schenectady, and Troy is referred to as the capital region, which has a population
of 750,000, and is a short drive away from scenic points such as Saratoga, the Berkshires,
the Catskills, and the Adirondack Mountains. These areas are very well known for

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Founded in 1824, Rensselaer is the nation's oldest technological university. The school
offers degrees in engineering, the sciences, information technology, architecture,
