Karen Foy
Karen is the Regional Program Manager for AHEADD Bakersfield. In 2000 she
graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science in
Psychology. In 2010, she graduated from CSU Bakersfield with a Master of
Science in Counseling, Student Affairs. Karen has worked and volunteered in a
variety of school settings for K-12 and higher education as a substitute teacher,
after-school teacher, advisor, and academic counselor. She has a passion for
helping all students achieve their higher education goals. Karen is excited to be
working for AHEADD and finding new ways to help our clients be successful as
they pursue their educational dreams.

Mary Noriega
Mary is a speech specialist working in a year-round school in Bakersfield, CA.
In June 1985, Mary earned her bachelors of science degree in the biological
sciences through California State, Bakersfield, a multi-subject teaching
credential through University of La Verne in August 1999, and is currently
working on a Master's degree through NOVA Southeastern University in
Speech Language Pathology. Mary taught first grade in the Bakersfield City
School District for 10 years and has since been working as a speech specialist
since July 2008, with children ages 3 years through junior high with varying
degrees of speech adn/or language disorders. Mary is working with AHEADD as
a program coordinator.
Holley Arbeit
With a passion for teens and adults with language-learning challenges, and
autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in particular, Holley is the Special Projects
Consultant for AHEADD Bakersfield and a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Following her Masters from Ohio University in 1980, she
has worked with students attending kindergarten through college in a wide
range of settings.  Presently, Holley works for a high school district, supporting
teachers to develop classes for students with social communication and
organizational difficulties. Holley also facilitates the Asperger Syndrome/High
Functioning Autism Parent Support Group with the support of the Kern Autism
Network.  She has worked with AHEADD since 2009, first as the Regional
Program Manager and now as a Special Projects Consultant.  This association
with AHEADD was an “easy fit” as her dedication to collaboration with the
schools, community and families to support individuals with learning challenges
has been her focus throughout her career.
