Team:
Ronni Aronow, M.A., M.S.
Ronni began her career as an elementary school teacher.  While deciding to
stay at home to raise 3 children, she became certified in teaching children's
yoga and received a grant to teach yoga in her district's elementary schools.
While teaching yoga, she began noticing the beneficial effects of yoga on
children with special needs, became certified in teaching yoga to special needs
children, and then decided to get a Masters in Special Education, with a
concentration in Autism Spectrum Disorders.  Her passion for students with
Asperger's Syndrome led her to do a thesis entitled, "Supporting College
Students with Asperger's Syndrome to Ensure Success", which led her to
finding out about a wonderful organization called AHEADD (Achieving in
Higher Education with Autism and Developmental Disabilities).  Ronni was
instrumental in bringing AHEADD's program to the Long Island area and is
very excited about working with college students and helping them succeed to
their fullest potential, both academically and socially.
Sharyn Katz
Sharyn is the Program Coordinator for AHEADD Long Island.  She is a former
teacher, current mom, and a lover of everything related to children.   Sharyn's
undergraduate work was in Psychology and she then received her master's
degree in Education.  After teaching for several years, Sharyn stayed home to
raise her three children, the oldest of whom is starting college this year. While
Sharyn loves to exercise, read, and travel, her desire to influence lives in a
positive way is what has made her interested in the AHEADD program.
